One: New favorite song for spring/summer.[media url=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sj684zcmzw” width=”600″ height=”400″]
MS MR (aka MSMR)- Hurricaine
Domoqb puts it as “everyone portrayed in the video are people not socially accepted, or they have issues that people view as gross or unacceptable by societies standards. things such as homosexuality, bisexuality, and pansexuality are highlighted in the video along with various other questionable “morally wrong” subjects such as polyamory, smoking, interracial relationships, anorexia, and provokes the viewer to broaden their mind as to what is deemed “beautiful.” in short however, everyone is capable of love.”
Last FM says the duo “MS MR is a Brooklyn-based duo consisting of Lizzy Plapinger (MS) and Max Hershenow (MR), who describe their music as a mix of “Tumblr glitch pop, soul fuzz and electroshock.””
Yeah, it’s super hipster and totally on the H&M/UrbanOutfitters/generic youth oriented sweatshop clothing company playlist. If you can look past the initial image you’ll notice the total sound is reminiscent of Florence and the Machine and if you’re a fan of Game of Thrones you may already know they have a featured song, “Bones”, on the soundtrack.
They’re quickly creating a following with nearly 1 million listens on Last.fm. While they’re never going to get the same numbers as “GangnamStyle”, “Somebody I used to Know”, or your teenage neighbors Youtube video of “Harlem Shake” it may be hitting your top 100 radio by summer.
I’m in the process of creating a Spotify playlist with my favorite toons. I’ll update ya’ll next post-ish.
